Senior Student Art Exhibitions: Group B

The second group of Senior Studen Art Exhibitions opened this week and will run through May 11, 2015.  Group B will host its opening reception this Sunday, May 3 at 12:00pm in Gallery 204 on the Upper Level of Hewes Library.

Hewes Library will have extended hours during Pre-Finals and Finals Week, May 1 - May 13, 2015.  The library's hours are:
  • Friday, May 1: 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 2: 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 3: 9:00 a.m. - Midnight
  • Monday - Wednesday, May 4 - 6: 7:30 a.m. - Midnight
  • Thursday - Friday, May 7 - 8: 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
  • Saturday - Sunday, May 9 - 10: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
  • Monday - Tuesday, May 11 - 12: 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, May 13: 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

It's a busy time of the semester with the end of classes and finals approaching!  Don't forgot to renew your library materials to avoid late fines.

To renew items that you have checked out, please visit your account - which is accessible from the Hewes Library Catalog - to login and renew materials.  If you have any interlibrary loans that you requested via your ILLiad Account, don't worry - you can renew those items online in your ILLiad Account by selecting the transaction number if you need to keep resources a little longer.

Periodical of the Month: Mix

Published by NewBay Media LLC, Mix is a monthly magazine which the Hewes Library subscribes to in print and online.

Distributed in ninety-four countries, Mix has focused on being, “the world’s leading magazine for the professional recording and sound production technology industry.”  Filled with current industry news, up-and-coming artists, and insider tips ‘n tricks, Mix is a must-read for all music and theatre students and connoisseurs.

Fun features of the print and online magazine include a monthly Tour Profile, New Products with reviews and Techtalk.  The website includes editor and user blogs and links to their Twitter and Facebook pages.

A star feature of the site is access to the Mix Master Directory Online, the most comprehensive listing of professional audio producers, engineers, facilities, manufacturers and business services. Senior Student Art Exhibitions: Group A

Group A of the Senior Student Art Exhibitions opened in Gallery 204 this week.  The opening reception is tomorrow, Saturday, April 11 at 1pm.  Group A's artwork will be on display until April 21.  Group B will open their work on April 27.

Database of the Month: SPORTDiscus

For sports and sports medicine journals, Hewes Library recommends SPORTDiscus provided to us by EBSCO.  The database includes content from over 660 journals as well as books, conference proceedings,  magazines, and more.  A full text database with content from the 1970s to present, SPORTDiscus is an excellent tool for those students in kinesiology, health sciences, and life sciences. content covers the following topics:
  • Clinical specialties such as orthopedics
  • Coaching and education
  • Consumer health
  • Exercise science and fitness
  • Health education
  • Kinesiology
  • Nutrition
  • Occupational health and safety

Senior Student Art Exhibitions

The Senior Student Art Exhibitions will run April 7, 2015 - May 6, 2015.  Student work will be broken into two groups for exhibition.  Group A will run April 7 – 21 with their Reception Saturday, April 11 at 1:00pm and Group B will run April 27 – May 11 with their Reception Sunday, May 3 at 12:00pm.  Both groups will have their artwork on display in Gallery 204 on the Upper Level of Hewes Library.  The galleries are open the entire time that the library is open.

Library Hours over Easter Break

Hewes Library will have abbreviated hours over Easter Break, April 2 - April 6, 2015.  The library will be open:

  • Thursday, April 2: 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday - Sunday, April 3 - 5: Closed
  • Monday,  April 6: 8:00 a.m. - midnight
Hewes Library and Einstein Brothers Bagels will return to regular hours on Tuesday, April 7.
