WorldShare/I-Share Tutorials

Over the summer, Hewes Library transitioned to a new interlibrary loan interface (WorldShare Interlibrary Loan) AND a new library catalog system. Both interfaces will continue to evolve as the library tweaks and modifies them to be as useful as possible for our community of researchers.

Here's how to decide which to choose:

  • Books and media may be requested via I-Share and WorldShare Interlibrary Loan.
  • Articles may only be requested via WorldShare Interlibrary Loan.

Helpful tutorials outlining the basic steps of each process:

·        Video outlining the steps to create WorldShare Interlibrary Loan requests (articles and books)

·        Video outlining the steps to request books via I-Share (remember: books only)

·        WorldShare and I-Share guides:  https://library.monmouthcollege.edu/home/otherlibraries

Don’t hesitate to stop by the Information Desk in Hewes Library and ask for a librarian if you would like any assistance. Librarians can also be reached via chat, text, email and phone. We are here to help!

Borrowing via I-Share & WorldShare

Hewes Library offers two ways to borrow materials from other Libraries:  I-Share and WorldShare.

In brief, I-Share offers Monmouth College patrons the opportunity to search a common catalog, identify materials in approximately 90 academic libraries in Illinois, and request materials directly from those libraries.  Materials are delivered Monday - Friday to Hewes Library.  Patrons should note that COVID-19 procedures now include a 5 day quarantine of incoming materials.

Patrons receive an email when the borrowed items are ready to pick up at the library information desk.

For more information on requesting materials via I-Share, please see this tutorial and written guide.

Take a Virtual Library Tour

Library tours are a hallmark of the freshman experience at Monmouth College, however, Fall 2020 is a bit different. While new and returning students, faculty and staff are already enthusiastically utilizing Hewes Library this semester, a new video created by the Library, gives a quick tour, showing behind-the-scenes locations that, due to COVID19 restrictions, are not available this semester.

Enjoy this video, part of the #HewesYouCanUse series on YouTube.

Special thanks to Chemistry major, Raman, for lending his talents as a tour guide!
