As we continue to celebrate Banned Book Week 2009, we thought that we would provide you with some of the titles and authors of the most frequently challenged and banned books. The American Library Association (ALA) keeps track of challenges and banned year and have information relating to previous year's most frequently challenged books available on their website.
The following books were the Top 10 Most Frequently Challenged Banned Books for the 2008 year:

- His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman
- TTYL; TTFN; L8R, G8R (series), by Lauren Myracle
- Scary Stories (series) by Alvin Schwartz

- The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
- Gossip Girl (series) by Cecily von Ziegesar
- Uncle Bobby's Wedding by Sarah S. Brannen
- The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
- Flashcards of My Life by Charise Mericle Harper
