Faculty:
Could your students benefit from background information
before tackling research on a topic? Would you like to supply them with
reputable sources of contextual information…digitally? Reference resources to
the rescue!
Supplementing hundreds of titles in the print reference
collection, the Hewes Library website provides a portal to hundreds more
digital reference sources that can be linked from your course page, Moodle
page, syllabus, email, facebook page…you name it!
To link to a reference entry (article, chapter, or book):
search the platform, locate the entry you wish to share, and utilize the
following features to generate a URL to share with your students:
•
CREDO: use the permalink icon
(linked chain) at the top right of the page (sample)
•
Encyclopaedia Britannica: share the
article’s URL (sample)
•
Gale Virtual Reference Library:
click “Citation Tools” and copy the URL (sample)
•
Oxford Reference: click the “cite”
icon (a pencil) at the top right (sample)
•
Sage eReference: share the article’s
URL (sample)
One last note: To ensure that the link is accessible off
campus, the library’s proxy prefix should be present. If not already provided
in the URL from the resource, please add the following at the beginning of the
URL: https://libprox.monm.edu/login?url=
