Resource Spotlight: A-Z Maps Online

This resource puts thousands of interactive maps at your fingertips 24-7!

From current political to antique maps, Biblical to climate maps, this resource contains every type of map imaginable. 

Use maps to illustrate presentations or create lesson plans using these visual aids. Static maps are downloadable and printable, in both color and black and white.

Global Sea Level Rise Simulation Map: an interactive map that shows which areas would be under water if sea level rises a specific amount. You can select a value of sea level rise using the drop down box in the upper left corner of the map.

Science (Journal) Trial

Trial of Science & other AAAS Science journals through December 15, 2017

Our Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois (CARLI) has arranged for a 60-day+ trial of the AAAS Science (1997-present) as well as the family of Science journals published by AAAS through December 15, 2017. Of these six titles Hewes Library has a current print subscription only for Science. The links below should provide access to these publications from off-campus, as well as, on-campus. Flipster Trial: Digital Magazines

Hewes Library - On Trial Through November 1, 2017
Hewes Library currently has a trial to EBSCO’s Flipster database, which provides full-image access to current periodicals (mostly popular and trade periodicals).  The rotating title carousel of selected popular titles is now on the library’s homepage (at the bottom).

You may click on a particular title on the carousel of titles or click on the  Flipster icon for all title access.

Flipster is accessible on your personal computer and on mobile devices…and is also accessible via a Flipster app for Android or iOS device. 

NOTE: During the trial period you must have a username & password to access the app for your mobile device from off-campus only.  Please send an email to for the username & password OR stop by the Hewes Library Reference Desk.  No password is required to use the app on campus.

This trial runs through Nov. 1, 2017.
